Along the Guanacaste Coast of Costa Rica and down an unpaved road lies the little town of Nosara. A place where people come to enjoy the gorgeous beaches and first-class surf. This pristine coastline is teeming with wildlife, as it is free of development. Long stretches of sandy beach are ideal for the morning walk to connect to nature, yourself and the all majesty this place holds. Complete with the most perfect water temperature and conditions for a swim to cleanse your soul. If you are seeking adventure, Nosara has an abundance of adventure and ecotourism activities as well.

Fly into Liberia airport (direct from many locations) where a shuttle will pick you up and take you to our LEED certified, sustainable beach home for the week. Each suite accommodates 1-3 people and features a living room, bedrooms and bathroom and is decorated with authentic crafts from Costa Rica. WIth poolside dining, spa treatments, a short walk to the beach and our own Yoga Shala nestled right in the jungle makes this the perfect location for a wellness retreat.

Enjoy the alfresco dining with views of the Ostional-Nosara Wildlife Refuge or the wave shaped pool. Delicious meals will be provided with distinctive Costa Rican and fusion dishes. All prepared with freshly harvested seasonal ingredients, including a variety of seafood caught by local fishermann. Smoothies and cocktails are available and are all made form fresh squeezed seasonal fruits. All nutritional needs can be met upon request. There will also be a few opportunities to go out and explore the amazing local restaurants that this area is known for.

Typical to all Mindful Balance Retreats, your itinerary will be set with the intention of creating a balance in each day. With plenty of time to enjoy the exciting activities and opportunities to restore your body, mind and spirit. Every morning will begin with a yoga practice suitable for all levels, the day may have an adventure planned or open for a bask in the sun with a good book. We will reconvene in the late afternoon for an educational yoga workshop or a guided mindfulness meditation. Our stay will be complete with an opportunity to contribute to the local community by providing a day of karma yoga/volunteering, guaranteed to fill your cup. Throughout our week together you will have many joyful moments of rediscovering peace in your body, your mind as well as your spirit.

The Instructor


ALisha Petak

Alisha Petak is the founder and operator of Mindful Balance Retreats a company that she started in the year 2013 to guide yoga students and teachers on adventurous journeys around the world. With over 20 years of experience traveling all over the planet and a Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation Management from Arizona State University, Alisha is well equipped to guide travelers to the locations of their dreams all while staying focused on her great passion for yoga and wellness.

As a yoga instructor herself, Alisha’s style of teaching reflects upon the many teachers that she has studied with over the past 20 years, offering a varied and challenging practice of strength, stability and focus balanced with mindfulness and meditation. Over the course of her career Alisha has received many certifications that have cultivated her understanding of the health of the body and mind. Alisha has achieved a master’s degree in Holistic Nutrition and completed her 1000 hour Yoga Therapy Certification. She has also received many other trainings/certifications including personal training certs from American Council on Exercise and the National Association of Sports Medicine, and yoga teacher trainings from Sivananda Yoga in Woodbourne, NY  and Soul of Yoga in Encinitas, CA. As well as a Thai massage certification from the Sunshine Massage School in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

At a time when I felt a yearning to make changes in my life and find balance, I’m grateful to have crossed paths with Alisha. I began taking yoga classes with Alisha though an employee health program offered at work and then went on a retreat through her Mindful Balance program. Alisha’s approach provided an easy and adaptable transition into all aspects of the program (cleanse/diet, meditation, and yoga practice) that have been sustainable long after the program was complete. The results have left me with a greater sense of self-awareness, strength, energy and peacefulness both inside and out. Overall, Alisha’s knowledge and methodology in approaching health and wellness has provided me with the necessary foundation to live my life in what truly is a mindful balance.
